So I am pretty much having a blast at nighttime

watching Musketeer reruns and playing with my iPad. 

The Procreate app is pretty amazing and I don't even

know how to do very much with it yet. 

I imported the image above. (I used it for the

cover of my Tangle Starts Strings book.)

Made with alcohol ink on Yupo. 

And I started drawing. 

Tangles I used include stack, dandelions and abundies. 

 But first I did this. 

Hahahahaha!

Playing with brushes.

So much fun!!!!

But I digress. 

 Before shading. 

After shading with an airbrush.

And I added some other brushes with the paint

spatters. It was pretty awesome to create!

Tangle Starts Strings

is my most recent book.

The cover states there is a string for

every day of the year, when in fact there

are some bonus strings.

You get a total of 378 strings already drawn

for you in this book. 

And it is so easy to use!

There are four strings per page,

at 3.25" square they have plenty of space

for you to add your tangles. 

You can easily complete a square in one

sitting. I worked on these over the past

week and I just noticed I did not add

printemps to the first tile.

Weird. Cause I always use printemps.

Hahaha!

I gave you space under each tile to record

the names of the patterns you used.

Or to make any notations you wish.

I used the heavier full-color paper for this

book, even though the bulk of it is black and

white. This will allow you to work without

worrying about bleed through on your pages.

A String for Every Day of the Year

is doing very well on Amazon.

It published on May 16.

On the 17th it went to #1 on the Hot New Release

list and stayed there for the remainder of

the 30 days that it was eligible.

After 30 days your book comes off the list.

So I am very happy with its success.

The thought behind this book was to provide you

with pre-drawn strings so all you have to do

is pick one and add the tangles.

Then this is your book. 

Above is a page that I added tangles to. 

Each page has 4 strings ready for you to

work with. There is a range of string types as well.

Instead of 366 strings (don't forget Leap Year,)

my friend Geneviève Crabe has contributed

12 strings she created which takes the

total to 378 strings.

Day 85 was completed in my

Baby Leda Pocket Sketchbook from

Leda Art Supply.

I traced around a 2" Bijou tile to set

up my boxes.

Then added tangles:

diva dance rock 'n roll,

raid (mine - not stepped out yet) and

printemps.

Ta-da!

 Day 81 was a lot of fun and so easy to do!

I was working on a large collage piece - 

making a background layer - 

and rolling the leftover paint onto a couple sketchbook pages. 

This is one of those page spreads of brayered on leftover paint. 

Done in my Baby Leda Pocket Sketchbook from 

Leda Art Supply. 

Perfect size book for this project.

(You can get this book on Amazon.com but if you

buy it direct from Leda it costs less.)

Then I tangled some kuke and Tennyson.

Reminds me of a picnic with a 

bunch of watermelon balls. 

 Day 82 was tangled in my latest book

Tangle Starts Strings.

It has 378 pre-drawn strings so you don't have

to worry about creating that part yourself.

I used perfs, crescent moon (the way I draw it) 

and a new one I'm developing called Zone. 

 Wow! This looks psychedelic!

Day 83 was done in my 

Hahnemühle Black Book. 

It can be purchased here. 

The book is great!

All the pages are black; the one issue that causes

with tangling is figuring out what pens to use.

I purchased a set from Jet Pens called

Teranishi Magic Glow Pens

and they are purported to

"stand out incredibly well on black paper."

The set I purchased had 12 pens.

If you were to count the colors seen in day 83 

you would notice there are only 7.

Five of these 'magic' pens do not actually

work on black.

Not if you would like to also see them.

But 7 are wonderful. 

And the Black Book from Hahnemühle is

 perfect for this! 

The smooth paper was a charm

to draw on with the 7 magical pens I had.

Enough said about those pens.

I will be reviewing the Black Book before long. 

(And I love it!)

The only tangle I used was printemps.

(I'm sure you are surprised with that tangle choice. Hahahaha!)

This doesn't go with any specific day of the project.

I just like it so far.

This is a large collage piece I've been working

on for a couple days now. 

Paint a little, glue a little, and wait for it to dry.

But it is in progress and I love it so far!

Building this in my Extra Large Leda Sketchbook.

You know I love these books!

Hope to have this finished in the next day or so

with a step-by-step of how I made it.

Mostly, skip every other step but I'm trying

to remember to take photos.

 The 100 Day Project has been a challenge.

An enjoyable challenge and one to be proud of -

but a challenge all the same.

 Day #70 was also completed in the

Tangles Starts Strings book. 

Tangles are all boxed up and footlites.

Hahnemühle sent me a Report & Art Book

to use and review. I am using it to set up

some of my favorite tangles.

An easy reference guide.

Hahnemühle actually has a couple products

that work great for this idea.

The cool thing about this book is the strings are already drawn for you. 

A grand total of 378 of them. 

All you have to do is pick up a pen and start tangling. 

Many people struggle when it comes to drawing a 'string'. 

That is what you call the line that divides your work area into sections. 

In Tangle Starts Strings I have taken that issue and

handled it for you already.

I am really happy with the way this book turned out.
