Still Working on This

My blogging has been erratic lately and  I should explain why. l went to the ophthalmologist back in July. I was told then that I had cataracts starting and to come back if I noticed a change in vision. 
I was fine for a while. Then I starting noticing that I was having trouble drawing. I bought different reading glasses, thinking that would help. It did not.
I started having trouble driving at night. Approaching car headlights made huge halos of light. Sometimes the halos covered both lanes of traffic.  I was in Denver a couple weeks ago and needed to drive at night. There are literally thousands of lights in downtown Denver. Add to that all the headlights and taillights  of hundreds of cars. Everything was one massive halo. I had to park the car and get someone else  to get me home. 
As soon as I got back to Maine I went to the doctor and told him about the changes in my vision. They did what is called a glare test and determined that my cataracts were severely worse and that I needed to have them removed as soon as possible.
In Maine "as soon as possible" means January. In the meantime my drawing/tangling is significantly decreased. That would be why you are seeing more "color" posts from me.
My left eye is 20/70, my right is 20/40. I have a pair of distance glasses that correct  my vision to 20/20 but they are only for distance. So I can drive in the daylight.  And I'm at the point where I'm not real comfortable with that now either.
So please be patient while I wait to get my eyes fixed and I can get back to tangling.
This photo above is actually a small block  of a larger piece I've been working on off and on for the past year. I love the colors. I am using an 005 micron to make tiny delicate lines. Can't do too much of that right now, so it is on my To-Do list for when I can see again.

Too Busy

Too busy. That accurately describes my life but I love it! Lots on my plate art wise, swaps, adminning, looking into book options, helping a friend launch a new book tomorrow. (Stay tuned.) Working my Etsy store again, trying to find some me-time to draw, staring out my window at Maine. I love all of it! Hahaha!

Cee-a-Mosa, New Tangle

Are you ready to try a new tangle?

Here is one I designed recently called

Cee-A-Mosa.

So named because the pods remind me

of the seed pods on the mimosa trees

in Florida.

Let's walk through the steps.

 I began by drawing cee-a-mosa in a circle.

You do not have to draw it this way,

it works well in straight-ish lines also.

To set up this piece, I drew a double line circle,

then added the seed pods along the lines -

inside and outside.

Next, I auraed the entire piece.

If you are new to tangling,

auraing something basically means

outlining it.

 Now, go inside the circle and add a seed podded

line across the middle. Before adding the aura,

add two perpendicular sets of lines,

then aura the first line.

(I found it works better if I add new podded lines

in between the pods of the existing lines.)

 Add the seed pods, then aura. 

 In that same crossing point,

go back and add one more set of podded lines

to each one. 

 Your sections are all set up.

Make sure each seed pod is blackened in.

 Now there is the simple process of auraing each section . . .

. . . and keep filling sections, till you are done.

 Cee-a-mosa in the round completed. 

Cee-a-mosa is a flexible tangle. 

You can fill sections with it like I did here also.

Dylusions on Canson Illustrated

With our big move coming up,  it is hard to fit in tangle time each day. Each room of the house has boxes stacked up. Boxes, plastic containers, bags, stacks of items. What a logistical nightmare. But we are tackling it -  one stage at a time. This week? The first wave of furniture goes out,  quickly followed by the second wave. Yay!!!!!
The above piece of art was created on a sheet of Canson Illustrated board, using Dylusions Ink Sprays. I do have other art supplies, I just don't love them as much!

Cee-a-mosa

This ATC was serious fun.  I keep working with auras, and this one just kind of came together when I wasn't paying attention. I will be posting a step out soon. I am calling this tangle cee-a-mosa.  And it's a secret why I'm naming it that! Hahaha! Brusho background. Such fun colors!
