Yesterday was our first day in the Blue Ridge Mountains, getting ready for - and waiting for - Christmas! I spent a little time drawing while we watched an endless marathon of NCIS.
In this tile you will notice a new tangle. It's called Diva Dance and Maria Thomas designed it to celebrate Laura's 100th Diva Challenge! Congratulations, Laura, and thanks for all your hard work for us!
Kali spent the afternoon mixing up a couple batches of cookie dough. Joshua was set to arrive the next day (today), so the cookie dough needed to be made ready for baking and decorating.
Kali is going to be my pastry chef, so the cookies are totally her area. I figured I'd try to post some photos each day, so, photos of finished cookies to come soon!

Week number 88 with the Diva's Challenge - welcome to IX. My CZT class was the 9th one, roman numeral IX, hence the name IX. This pattern was introduced at our class and I have to say I don't like this pattern one bit. I just don't get it. I keep trying, but it is not my friend. You can see IX in the upper right section of my tile.
It is also time for string #19 at Tangle Patterns. The string was given by Linda Selymes. Above is my tile I drew to go with this string. This tile is posting for both the Diva's Challenge and Linda's string challenge at Tangle Patterns. Go check it out and while you're there, why don't you post some tiles of your own :).
The recent CZT training I went to was the ninth such class held by Zentangle®. Rick and Maria came up with a new tangle for our class called IX, representative of our 'nine' designation in roman numerals. Kind of clever. This one is really hard for me to get flowing. This is the tile I drew in class as they walked us through it. I also have sketched out notes in my portfolio they gave us to work in.
A couple nights ago, I pulled out my instructions for IX and gave it another go. I like this one better, although I'm still not comfortable with my interpretation. I think I let the shading get the best of me, but I shaded with a grey pitt marker and can not change it. So. I think this shading is just awesome - right.
Then I remembered the gold pens and black tiles and gave this a try. Bigger, bolder, filling up the tile with the design itself. And I believe I like this one best. Can anyone tell me how to shade something like this?
