Scrap Tangling

I love my Dylusions Ink Sprays. I use them all the time. I love lots of bright, wonderful, vivid color. Can you tell?

 And I never throw any of it away.

Seriously.

I have scraps that are 1" x 3".

Occasionally I will pick up a scrap 

and start tangling on it.

I try to tangle within the color. Find a patch of color and start there, then just go with whatever direction it takes me in. 

My heart tells me when it is finished. And this piece? Is finished. No up or down, no right way for it to be positioned. Just lots of yummy, colorful, tangled up fun!

A Little Brusho Under the Sea

I love my brushos! They give great, vivid color every time. This was a 5" x 7" scrap with some brushos left over from another project. Don't ever throw out your scraps! I just tangled up a little undersea adventure and fun! I loved the way this turned out!

Daily Twinchies, Week Six

Here is my week six in the daily twinchies quest for 2015. Hahaha!  Not bad, considering there have been eight weeks in 2015 already. This week I seemed to be leaning more towards organic tangles. I tend to be doing that more and more lately.
The real news is - - - I am in Colorado! Visiting Kali, my pastry chef. Up to our eyeballs in snow. Good grief! (And if you read yesterday's post,  you know I am typing these posts out ahead of time. I just know they are buried in snow right now, and it's still snowing.) Hahahaha!

Ghosty Postie #3

Similar to the past two days' posts, so I won't go into a lot of detail. Other than my eyes are almost shut and I'm about to fall off my chair. Ugh. I hate flying.

Started with wet paper and added some spritzes (?) of bubblegum pink - Dylusions Ink Spray. I did this totally backwards. I sprayed the pink first, then added some Lemon Zest. Apparently that make bits of ugly green. Who knew???

Time to salvage some paper. So I added water and some more color. Let it run, and bleed, and move. Then I blotted it.

And I was happy. Finally. This one was a bit more work than I like to get involved in. I like these projects to just come together because they are more fun that way. 

I think this is what I drew on this piece of paper. If you cut off the top inch of paper. Which I would have when I took it out of the sketchbook. If this isn't what I drew - too bad, you get to enjoy it anyway :). It was so much fun to do! And sadly I think I am out of ghost posts to make. Oh well. Thanks for checking in with me as you read my crazy posts. I'll be back home soon and everything will return to normal. I think.

Cheerios and Blueberries

It has been a busy winter, and I've even had a busy start to my spring. The Florida pollen is in full force and my time spent outside is at a minimum. Can you say allergies and gesundheit? (I totally had to google how to spell that!) One positive side to the pollen is that I get to stay inside and draw more! Yay!!!! And I am back on the diet. Not yay!!!!!! (But I am down 7 pounds. Yay!!!)

As I mentioned recently, I am busy making art for book submissions. Currently I am working on submissions for seven different books. I started this drawing late last night. It needs much more done to it but it's at least a start. Most of the book deals state that I can not share the art online beforehand, but one did not have any such lingo in the paperwork. So I can show you step-by-step what I develop. So. Stay tuned :). And while you're at it why don't you go make some art? You'll be glad you did!

More Underwater Twinchies, APR #95

Under the Sea (continued from yesterday) ~ The Little Mermaid ~
Down here all the fish is happy as off through the waves they roll. The fish on the land ain't happy, they sad 'cause they in their bowl. But fish in the bowl is lucky, they in for a worser fate. One day when the boss get hungry guess who's gon' be on the plate.
Under the sea, under the sea, nobody beat us, fry us or eat us in fricassee. We what the land folks loves to cook. Under the sea we off the hook. We got no troubles, life is the bubbles, under the sea. Since life is sweet here, we got it beat here, naturally. Even the sturgeon an' the ray they get the urge 'n' start to play. We got the spirit, you got to hear it, under the sea!
(Kind of long, but here's the rest.)
The newt play the flute, the carp play the harp, the plaice play the bass, and they soundin' sharp. The bass play the brass, the chub play the tub, the fluke is the duke of soul. (Yeah) The ray he can play the lings on the strings. The trout rockin' out, the blackfish she sings. The smelt and the sprat they know where it's at, an' oh that blowfish blow.
Under the sea, under the sea, when the sardine begin the beguine, it's music to me. What do they got? A lot of sand, we got a hot crustacean band. Each little clam here know how to jam here under the sea. Each little snail here know how to wail here. That's why it's hotter under the water. Ya we in luck here, down in the muck here under the sea.

The seaweed is always greener in somebody else's lake. You dream about going up there, but that is a big mistake. Just look at the world around you, right here on the ocean floor. Such wonderful things surround you. What more is you lookin' for?
Under the sea, Under the sea, Darling, it's better down where it's wetter, take it from me. Up on the shore they work all day. Out in the sun they slave away, while we devotin' full time to floatin' under the sea.

Time to Create

It has been a crazy few weeks. Due to an injured achilles tendon, I have been spending a lot of time sitting with my foot propped up on an ice pack. Trying to draw when I could , but finding it hard to keep my concentration and focus due to pain. Then Kali had some issues which necessitated a trip to the hospital for her and a plane flight for me. I took a rough spill in a dark movie theatre and smashed a knee, shoulder, and hip, and twisted the bad foot - setting me back to ground zero on the healing achilles problem. I spent two weeks there and just returned home last night. I am sooooo tired!!!

I still have ATCs to complete for the CZT Deck Swap, but I am closing in on being finished :). Here are a couple closeups of one of the larger sheets I am working on. It will eventually be cut down into 16 ATCs.
As a side note, now that I am back home I hope to start doing some massive overhauls on the blog, my Pinterest boards, my Etsy store, and setting up a Facebook group to make things more cohesive and easier to access. I believe I need a focus for the facebook group. There are many zentangle/tangle pages already out there. And in all truthfulness I am more of a Zentangle Inspired Art person than a Zentangle person. Do you have any suggestions for a focus in a facebook group? Something that isn't already being done to death? I have some ideas, but I'd like to hear what some of you might suggest. Thanks :)

Doing Better, APR #89

My foot is coming along. Finally. That old achilles tendon is finally starting to feel a bit better. Of course I've been sitting for a week and a half now. Reading, playing my gameboy, checking facebook, and drawing a little here and there.

About 40 heated foot soaks, 40+ ice packs, and one can of BioFreeze and I can tell some difference. Getting up in the morning and putting that foot on the floor is still a challenge. Talk about pain!

But I'm getting there. I go back to the doctor this Thursday to see where we go from here. She is looking for a 50% improvement. I think we have that much. Praying we have that much.

And in the meantime, I draw. And for the first time in quite awhile, I am linking this up to the Artist's Play Room where Jenn lets us post whatever art floats our boat this week. This is what has kept me afloat as I sit here on my chaise lounge with yet another ice pack. You can check out the Artist's Play Room here at Just Add Water, Silly! (I love Jenn!)

Still Sittin'

I am still attached to this chaise lounge and getting incredibly tired of it! My foot seems to be feeling better, get rechecked next week. The only tangible positive is that I am getting lots of tangling done. Working on more bookmarks for a swap I am part of. Couldn't decide whether to color the mak-rah-mee in the center and decided to just go for it and do it. Which do you prefer? You know how I am about color, so I don't even need to tell you which one I prefer.

I put a quick shot of this on facebook earlier in the week. Here it is cleaned up a bit. Those shapes came courtesy of a stencil used over Dylusions Ink Sprays. This one was a lot of fun! Now, back to sitting. Ugh.

A New Year's Coming

These are the last three of my New Year's post cards for the swap. I used mixed media paper and cut my own 4" x 6" postcards - rather than buying them. In the last two cards I tried something new. Not sure how I like it yet. I used pen nibs and a speedball wand, which I dipped into Liquitex Acrylic Ink to draw the pink string and the green vines. Other colors in the cards came from Grumbacher Translucent Watercolors, Wink of Stella Glitter Markers, and At You Spica pens. It's almost new year's day. The cards are in the mail. It's a new record :).

Love These Colors!

This has been keeping me busy over the past couple days. A few posts back, I showed you some backgrounds I've been working on. This is the first one I've tangled up. Here are some detail shots:

I love this tangle of Sandra Strait's called Urchin. That's exactly what it looks like. I added that ruffle around the outside and tried to make it look like it's flowing in the water.

I was hoping these little pipe-thingies could represent some coral.

And I had to incorporate some of Michele Beauchamp's new tangle mak-rah-mee.

I really like the way mak-rah-mee flows.

These tangles just work so well together, and I love the colors! Time to move on to another background now and get busy!

Diva Challenge #145

Today I felt like playing with some color. This is one of those blown out rings I showed you how to create two posts back. It just screamed sea urchin to me and thankfully I was perusing Sandy Steen Bartholomew's book Totally Tangled and came across this tangle by Sandra Strait - called urchin! It fits perfectly with the circles and I love the way it turned out.

This week's Diva Challenge is to use the new official tangle quib. That's the up and down part of the above tangle. It is very similar in nature to Michele Beauchamp's mak-rah-mee tangle, so I combined the two. It almost reminds me of jelly fish and a couple octopi. I love the flowy nature of both tangles and I am definitely going to play some more with both of these!
