Day 10 and 11 of The 100 Day Project #the100dayproject #ledaartsupply #hahnemühle

day 10 of The 100 Day Project, Alice Hendon, Cézanne hot pressed paper from Hahnemühle
 Ten days in to
and I'm hanging in there!
It is hard to stay on target when there
are so many other things I need to be doing,
but so totally worth it!

Day #10 is above.
along with Dylusions Ink Sprays.
Love the rich, awesome color!
This paper worked so great with the ink sprays!
And because the block of paper is both
gauzed and glued,
I had no warping or dimpling.
The color sat on the top and didn't absorb,
the color didn't alter or change,
it just sat there and was beautiful until it dried.
(Although there were a few places where I used
a heat gun to create some of those cool
effects you see.)
And I have made the decision not to draw on
this piece, but to keep it as is.
Cause I love it that much!
day 11 of The 100 Day Project in my Baby Leda Pocket Sketchbook - Alice Hendon
Day #11 is a much smaller work.
again I used the Dylusions Ink Sprays
because they are my absolute favorite.
I tangled with an 0.1 Copic Multiliner and
a white UniBall Signo gel pen.
Tangles are: printemps, tipple, holes,
and fluxfleur.
So much fun!

We are doing The 100 Day Project as a
group over at Facebook. If you would like
to join us, head on over to
and join us.
I'd love to see you there!

Days 5 and 6, The 100 Day Project #ledaartsupply #hahnemühle_usa #zebrapenus

Day 5 of The 100 Day Project, Alice Hendon, Hahnemühle Watercolor Book
And so I continue my journey with
Actually the past couple days have been rough.
Dealing with a migraine and serious vertigo
is never fun!
I had been doing some work in my
tangling blocks of patterns and adding color.
My day 5 page above is one I worked on in
between feeling like I was going to puke.
No color added yet. That will come.
This little book is going to be amazing!
Hahaha! Yes, it will be!
I will share a fuller post soon and show you
what I mean.
Day 6 of The 100 Day Project, Alice Hendon, Leda Art Supply
Yesterday was day 6 in the journey to 100!
I have a sketchbook I am reviewing for
It is 3.5" x 5.5" and is the perfect size for
The 100 Day Project.
There are enough pages to complete the entire
project in this one book.
Above is a two-page spread I colored with
Cosmic Shimmer Watercolor pans.
The color flowed on wonderfully and is easy
to tangle over.
Day 6 of The 100 Day Project, Alice Hendon, Leda Art Supply
This is what I did with the pages for day #6.
I used the tangles printemps, tipple and blox
and filled in the pages.
Then I used my set of Zensations Colored Pencils
from Zebra Pen to add shading.
They worked very well over the watercolor shimmer.

I am an Artist Ambassador for Zebra Pen,
an Ambassador for Leda Art Supply,
and  review products for Hahnemühle.
These were a couple of win/win days for these
products.

If you are interested in learning more about
just click the pink link.
Our Facebook group
is doing the project together.
I have asked them to set a timer for 15 minutes,
to tangle or draw during those 15 minutes,
then when the timer sounds -
to stop and post their work in our group.
I figured just about anyone could find
15 minutes in their day to participate.
If you would like to join us -
head over here
and we will welcome you to the group!

Hahnemühle Calendar Painting Competition 2019 is Open!

Recently I've been using the beautiful papers from
Hahnemühle FineArt!
They have such wonderful papers and I have been
experimenting and putting the papers through their
paces. Having a wonderful time!
And now I have something new to focus on for
a bit - Hahnemühle has announced their
Calendar Painting Competition for 2019!

The theme this year is Red.
Any type of red.
Any kind of mixed media art.
The one hard and fast rule is this -
your artwork has to be created on paper
from either Hahnemühle or Lana.
The entry deadline is June 30, 2018.
(I cheated and copied and pasted the rules just below.)
I hope you will be challenged to participate.
I already have some ideas for what I want to do!

The contest is open to all people. Five entries are allowed per person. Entries can be submitted until 30th June 2018 exclusively via the upload portal on the website www.hahnemuehle.com.
The contest is open for works of art in all painting, drawing and traditional etching techniques that have been created on a paper by Hahnemühle or Lana. Each image must be suitable for reproduction for the calendar in at least 40 x 30 cm in landscape format. All eligible entries will be considered in the selection of the twelve motifs for the 2019 calendar. We reserve the right to request originals for the final selection.
By entering the competition the entrant declares to be the author of the submitted artwork. They consent to the inclusion of the contributions in the calendar, and publication on our websites, in newsletters, on Hahnemühle pages in social networks and in publications of any kind in connection with the competition. Any other uses are permitted only with the separate consent of the author. The copyright of the author is displayed clearly.
The winners will be announced in fall of 2018. Each of the twelve winners receive an exclusive creative package worth a total of €350 as well as 10 copies of the 2019 calendar. Current information on the competition can be found on www.hahnemuehle.com.

The decision is final. Changes to the Terms and Conditions are reserved for good cause.

I am looking forward to seeing what you create!

Sketch Diary from Hahnemühle is Fun and Useful! #hahnemühle_usa #hahnemühle #sketchdiary

review of Hannemühle's Sketch Diary, Alice Hendon
You may remember this piece of art from a
few weeks back. Seriously fun to do!
Let me introduce you to a product from
that makes it easy to reinvent this piece
down the road!
review of Hannemühle's Sketch Diary, Alice Hendon
Recently I have been doing some product reviews for
They generously sent me product to try out in my
personal art use and I am posting my results as I make the art.

The book you see above is a real gem!
It is called the
and it is super awesome!
You can read about the diary by clicking
that pink link that says Sketch Diary.
Or read the rest of this post because I
tell you about it, too!
When you open the book you see that the left-hand
pages are all lined.
The right-hand pages are all blank.
I thought and thought about what I could use
this book for and it has really come in handy,
but let me tell you more about it first.
review of Hannemühle's Sketch Diary, Alice Hendon
You've already seen the diary is spiral bound.
That is important because it allows the pages
to lay completely flat when open.
Not all books do that.
An attached stretchy band holds all your wonderful
information closed in and safe when you aren't
working in the sketch diary.
It comes with that paper band wrapped around it.
I kept my paper band and . . .
review of Hannemühle's Sketch Diary, Alice Hendon
. . . stored it in the pocket found on the inside back cover.
Perfect size for stashing notes, postage stamps, photographs,
and kind of flat-ish memorabilia.
And the paper band.
In case you want to refer to it later.
Like now.
You also get two label stickers you can use on the cover to identify what notes you have stored in this particular book.

So let's get back to that string rose project.
I said I could use this book to re-create that project.
Here is what I did.
One day I went on a color fun expedition and made
a whole bunch of colorful pages to use later.
On the lined left-hand page, I made detailed notes
about the product used and the techniques I employed.
This particular project used the
Cézanne Mould-Made Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper.
I noted some characteristics of the paper,
then went on to list the other products I used.
I also made notes explaining how the paper reacted
to my products so I could make a valid review later.
On the right-hand blank page, I attached photos
of the before and after.
Scanned and printed from my home printer.
Not great quality photos, but good enough for my purposes.
review of Hannemühle's Sketch Diary, Alice Hendon
With these notes I could make this project again
in a couple weeks, or months, or years even.
Thanks to my Sketch Diary!
review of Hannemühle's Sketch Diary, Alice Hendon
The Sketch Diary has 60 sheets inside,
which means you can record the process for a
whole lot of projects!
That is great news!
And that is exactly what I am doing.
review of Hannemühle's Sketch Diary, Alice Hendon
review of Hannemühle's Sketch Diary, Alice Hendon
The two pieces of art shown above have not been
completed. I still want to draw on them, or make
collage art, or mixed media with them.
But I went ahead and made all the notes at the
time I made the color, so I could recall the
important details.
When I get ready to make blog posts about those two pieces of art,
I can refer back to these pages and recall how I made them.
So I can explain the steps to you.
Cause that's what I do!
review of Hannemühle's Sketch Diary, Alice Hendon
Here is a mixed media page I posted about recently.
On that left-hand page I detailed all the product.
And I used a lot!
From that list, I will have enough information that
I can make a similar piece again.
No two pieces of art are ever exact replicas,
but the steps involved in the creation
CAN
be replicated.
review of Hannemühle's Sketch Diary, Alice Hendon
I still love this one!
Hahahaha!
Not only do I have my Sketch Diary notes
to think back on, I keep most of my artwork
in portfolio binders.
So I have the originals as well.
review of Hannemühle's Sketch Diary, Alice Hendon
Another colorful background waiting to be completed.
review of Hannemühle's Sketch Diary, Alice Hendon
And the notes are so important!
Actually, I may complete this one next!
review of Hannemühle's Sketch Diary, Alice Hendon
 The notes are key!
review of Hannemühle's Sketch Diary, Alice Hendon
Here is a project I will be doing again!
And again, probably!
Hahaha!
It was that much fun!
And with these notes, I can do just that!
review of Hannemühle's Sketch Diary, Alice Hendon
I really love the little vignette book I made with
the Cézanne Mould-Made Cold Pressed
Watercolor Paper.
review of Hannemühle's Sketch Diary, Alice Hendon
My Sketch Diary still has room for a whole lot of projects! It is the perfect note keeping book to record my art and how I create it.
I would welcome you to pick up one of your own and put it to use!
I will probably show you mine from time to time
and you are certainly going to want one of your own.
So -
here are a list of places in the United States where you can
grab yourself a Hahnemühle Sketch Diary.
(If you live outside the United States, you can
google places to purchase the
Hahnemühle Sketch Diary.)
I would love to hear what you did with yours.
Have a great weekend.

INKtober Finale! #zensations #hahnemuhle #inktober #stillmanandbirn

The month is coming to a close and so is INKtober.
So happy I was able to finish
the month with some fun pieces of art!
Every day this month I used a Sarasa Fineliner
pen from Zebra Pen to tangle the patterns.
I used a combination of Hahnemuhle You Tangle.art tiles,
a Stillman & Birn sketchbook and a Hahnemuhle sketchbook to draw the daily prompts in.
Above are a collection of quib, inapod, b'twined, xyp, and henna drum.
This was tangled in the new Hahnemuhle Nostalgie Sketch Book.
What a great book!
I was in a hurry this particular day. I used my moleskine journal that I keep my favorite tangles in and added narwal.
The prompt for the 28th.
 Undling is an interesting tangle.
Unassuming, and simplistic looking, it can be
tangled so many different ways!
Here I used a Hahnemuhle You Tangle.art tile
that I spread some Tim Holtz' Distress Oxide ink on.
Y-ful power is always fun to draw!
And sometimes it turns out the way it is supposed to :).
For the last day of the month -
Halloween -
I chose the tangle called gutz.
Hahahaha! I thought it was appropriate.
Again, I used a Hahnemuhle You Tangle.art tile,
with more distress oxide ink.
I used an assortment of Sarasa Fineliners in various colors to tangle.

INKtober was a challenge to keep up with,
but I am so glad I persevered.
Now to try to keep tangling each day since
I am back in the habit.

Want to see some cool INKtober art?
Head over to Zentangle All Around and I will open
the door for you.
We have some amazing artists sharing their
INKtober renderings there.
You are certain to be inspired.
Promise.

INKtober'ing Like a Champ! #zensations #inktober #hahnemuhle

I am up to my eyeballs in book making
BUT
I am still keeping up with INKtober.
Just barely, but doing it.

The above art was created on a
Hahnemuhle You Tangle.art tile with a
Sarasa Fineliner from Zebra Pen's Zensations line.
The tangles are showgirl and emingle.
It's a two-for-one tile! Hahaha!
That showgirl is a tangle that just keeps you
coming back for more and more.
So much fun !
Emingle? Not so much. hahaha!
The secret to emingle is to turn your tile with
every line you draw.
 Here is another Hahnemuhle tile.
These tiles are 3.5" square, they accept ink great!
I am using them for 90% of my inktober artworks.
Again, I used the Sarasa - I am trying to use those
every day this month. Smooth, even lines and they
work superbly with the Hanhnemuhle tiles.
Above you see the tangle pattern vano.
I was able to just zone everything out and focus on
filling in all those lovely little sections.
Today's tangle prompt is paradox.
This one requires a whole lot more attention
from me to work.
And I needed more space than the Hahnemuhle
tile provides, so I went with the 4.5" Apprentice
Shading really brings paradox to life.

Nine more days in INKtober after today
and I am determined to finish strong!
Not involved yet?
Join us at Zentangle All Around as we
tangle our way through the month.
Don't worry about the first 2/3 of the month.
Just jump in with both feet now and
help us finish out the month.
You won't be sorry.

Keeping Up With INKtober #zensations #hahnemuhle #inktober

 I am so excited!
Today is the 13th of the month and I am still participating
in Inktober! This is the longest I've kept
up with it.
Each of these three pieces were created on a
In the above tile I used a Sarasa Fineliner from
for the tangling. The color pops came from
Lolliz Gel Pens. I love the great colors they have!
The tangle prompt for the day was rainbow bridge.
To that I added tear drop border.
So much fun!
Rainbow bridge has so many possibilities!
Kandy Ribnz has always been a hard one for me to draw.
My hand gets going with the right pattern,
then kapow! it's off to the wrong direction.
I have learned to draw this in pencil first,
then when I am close I can go to my pen.
I filled the middle sections with half of my
ripped screen tangle.
Drawn again with a Sarasa Fineliner,
the color is actually a Sarasa Mildliner.
A marker/highlighter kind of pen.
I love the bright colors they have!
This last one was yesterday's prompt - waybop.
I added a circular border and put ripped screen in the middle.
Shading makes that whole center section stand out.
For shading on each of these tiles,
I used a Caran d'Ache HB pencil and a tort.
This pencil is my absolute favorite!
I actually recently ordered 8 more of them.
You can never have too many pencils!
At $1.35 each they are a steal for sure!

Haven't gotten into INKtober yet?
There is still time!
In my Facebook group
we are working on a tangle prompt each day.
Come on over and check it out!
Look for the pinned post at the top of the page -
that's where you find a list.
I look forward to meeting you.
