Most of you know that I recently spent some time in Orlando visiting the Disney complex. Primarily so I could sit in one of their on-site hotels and draw and paint for a few days. I enjoy spreading paints, and craft mats, and pens and inks and markers all over the room and working for several days uninterrupted. And since I end up with piles and stacks of wet media papers on the beds and all over the floors - no house-keeping because I'm afraid they would have a stroke when they see all the mess I'm making! Hahaha! Not to fear, I clean my messes up when I'm done.
Zentangle® recently released a new tangle by Molly - it is called ING. Reminiscent of construction scaffolding, the steps are a breeze once you figure out which direction to go. Here is the step-out.
I turned to ING a couple times while I was visiting Mickey. In this particular tile - the original is 3.5" square - ING reminded me of Cinderella's Golden Carousel in the Magic Kingdom. Not nearly as cool as Cinderella's but that's alright :). She's a little better known than I. Hahaha!

I spent the better part of the past week in Orlando, hoteling on the Disney complex, drawing, painting, relaxing, and doing a little shopping.
I love going to Downtown Disney. Not so much this trip however. They are in the process of "reimagining" Downtown Disney and it is one serious mess. Little parking, lots of construction walls, a ton of people in very little space, not at all a pleasant shopping experience.
They funneled us into a partially built parking garage that is going to be gargantuan - and just what Downtown Disney needs when it's completed - and we got to hunt and seek for a parking space down aisles that had no exits or turnarounds at the end, with cars backed up behind you. Not zen-like at all.
Once I found a space I got to hike my way in to the shopping district via a long sidewalk under a bunch of scaffolding and construction by-product.
Well, that brings me to today's post. ING. It's a new tangle from the Zentangle® folks, created by Molly Hollibaugh. She deconstructed it from - - - scaffolding!
My tile reminds me of the Disney scaffolding and all the bits of debris and concrete that I got to step over and walk around to get into the Downtown Disney area that I did not go back and visit again while I was in Orlando. Oh well, at least the tile was fun to draw!
Do you participate in that social media that is Facebook? I'm guessing if you are technically savvy enough to find and follow my blog, you probably savvy Facebook as well. If you go there and search for a group called Square One: Purely Zentangle® you can request membership and be part of the group. The mission, so to speak, of Square One is to go back to the beginning. Back to square one with your zentangle knowledge. Back to the 3 1/2" square white tile. Back to black ink, pencil shading, and no eraser. Back to the way we learned to tangle.
Each week Chris and Jenny challenge us with one specific tangle to work with. Week one was cadent - I still need to do that one. Weeks two and three were twing and verdigogh. The last two weeks are in my tile above.
That whole center section is a variation of a new tangle that we - as CZTs - aren't allowed to share step-outs with the public yet. And I tell you that's not a bad thing. Even with the step-outs I couldn't get it right, which is why I am calling that center column a 'variation' of that unknown entity. You see twing waving across the middle - also a variation. I did twing by memory and I forgot a couple lines. I can't find the step-out for it to save my life! So here is another drawing I did some time ago. Twing is the zig-zagging pattern across the top:
Then I added verdigogh to the center-unnamed-not-official-tanglethatwecannotrelease-yet. (And trust me, it doesn't look anything like this when it's done the step-out way!) Verdigogh is that arm-waving stuff and it's way fun to add to your tangle drawings!
