A little over year ago, we were working on the
and we wanted to have little cute owls spread
throughout the planner.
So. I was put on owl detail.
Hahaha!
I drew about 40 of the little guys.
I have been wanting to do something with the
artwork from that project,
and this week in
Zentangle All Around (Facebook)
our art journaling prompt is
Owls.
(As I make this post,
Zac Brown Band is singing
Roots
on the player.
Reminds me of this little tree!)
I began by using Lindy's Stamp Gang inks
to make the backgrounds.
I trimmed out some of my favorite owls
and gently watercolored them.
And that means I used as little water
as possible because I tangled
these on cardstock.
I also picked out a couple Tim Holtz' pieces
of ephemera to use.
Actually, tangling a tree was a thought
I had the night before and all but forgot.
So, it had to come after some of the pieces
had already been glued into place.
This spread came together fairly easily.
And now I have a fun storage place for
some of my original art from the book.

Lovely owls!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I found that I enjoyed drawing the little owls and coming up with new ideas.
DeleteThis is such a lovely way of keeping your artwork - it just makes me smile every time I look at it. The colours are dreamy & your owls have such character, the tree itself is beautifully placed & I love the way the tangles work to create such texture. It really is a wonder how the colour & tangles gel.
ReplyDeleteThanks, dear friend. I still have about 30 owls so I'm thinking more journaling may be in order.
