Book Tangling

This was fun to do and it felt a little wrong to do! I received this beautiful new book in the mail. It has a lot of watercolor pages like this - blank of photos, some pretty color washes, and maybe a little texture here and there. I picked out a nice blank-ish page and stated tangling. I really love that tangle gnarly on the left! It is a free-flowing, fun tangle to draw.
My stash of books to draw in has grown to about 15 now.  Hahahahaha! So I must not have felt too badly about it!
You know what would make a great tangling journal??? Any old math textbook you might still have laying around.  Hahahaha!  Spoken like the homeschool mom I used to be!

Did Someone Ask For Circles?

I mentioned yesterday how far behind I am on challenges. I've had this one sitting in my smash journal waiting to lay down some color. And now I remember that someone challenged us to circles, but for the life of me I cannot remember who - and I cannot find the challenge in my daily reads. So. Here is my response to the Unknown Circle Challenge! I used a little spinner pattern, mixed in some assemblies and jalousie, threw in some of my barz and geerz, and you have a bit of steampunk. With a whole bunch of circles. I count 79, but there might be more :). On to the next drawing.

Steampunk String 010

Yesterday, Tangle Patterns posted a string for the week. I posted a tile last night that I made following the string of Anne Marks. Today, I made another - of the steampunk variety this time :). You know how I like drawing steampunk! Patterns - jalousie, assemblies, and from my patterns - pipez, barz, and geerz. Color by Pitt Artist Markers and Derwent Intense Pencils. This week's Diva Challenge was to make eccentric circles and tangle them. I'm not totally sure I understood what I was supposed to do, but this is what I came up with. And this is what you're getting for my part of the challenge - hahaha! Hopefully it's close to being the right thing!


It was fun to do. As I was making circles I noticed that a couple looked like Mickey ears, so I went with that idea! I'm hopeful that the ball with the small ears (lower left) might be reminiscent of the big ball at Epcot where the attraction Spaceship Earth is housed. I love Walt Disney World! 


Patterns I used are: kolum, hurry, bulb lantern, jalousie, snaylz trayl, baton, and ying yang - add a little shading and it's good to go! You can check out everyone's eccentric circles (and see if I had any clue at all) at the Diva's page here.

Get Your Steampunk On

Last night I posted the pen version of this picture. I spent a little over an hour today adding color. I even got some texture of sorts, due to all the product I used.

I drew this in my smash journal. I guess if I am going to continue to doodle steampunk I should probably start a journal specifically for this. Products that I used included: Derwent Inktense Pencils, Pitt Artist Pens, Robin Mini-Metallic Rub-Ons (I've had these forever. I don't know if they are even still available,) Sakura Opaque Pigment Markers, Pentel Slicci Pens and Micron black and sepia pens.

Patterns include:  assemblies, spinner, parabola, kolum, jalousie, linked, and two I made up - geerz and barz. This was a load of fun! Now, back to working on challenges!
