This week's Diva Challenge (#86! unbelieveable!) is Break Free! Break out of our borders, expand our boundaries, so to speak.
Here's my tile. Now, most of the CZT's strictly adhere to the black pen on white tile concept. Not me. Typically I add color, which specifically makes my art become zentangle-inspired-art, but whatever. It's what I like. So, to step beyond my borders would be to go "black pen on white tile." But you notice I had to throw in that colored scrapbook paper in the background! Hahahaha! And yes, I did expand some of my designs so they meld right off the side of the tile. AND - - - I'm getting this posted before the challenge is over :D! Head on over to the Diva's page here to check out how everyone else breaks out of their borders. Perhaps you have some borders of your own that need breaking out of!
Outstanding! Fengle never looked better (and I still can't do it).
ReplyDeleteit's taken me forever to 'get' fengle - rick was able to break through my mental block at the CZT training - wish it had worked for a couple other patterns - ha!
DeleteOh, I love fengle! the alternating black and white looks great. lovely work, Alice :)
ReplyDeletethank you, helen, this one was a lot of fun!
DeleteBeautiful! I like the fact that we are all so different (in a lot of things, so also zentangle). I myself hardly ever use color.
ReplyDeleteand color is pretty much normal for me - i like that we are all different - not so boring that way :)
DeleteFengle and squid go fabulously well together Alice. I like the way they seem to be floating off your tile.
ReplyDeletethank you, shelly, you are my inspiration :)
DeleteLove it--fengle and squid so fun!
ReplyDeleteand it was fun to be back :)
DeleteGreat choice of tangles!

you're welcome!
DeleteVery nice! I like your use of similar shapes--it looks like a bunch of jellyfish. You did a great job making this into a different type of challenge for yourself too keeping with the traditional black and white. :-)
ReplyDeletethanks, emily, i really wanted to throw some color in there
DeleteLovely, Alice.
ReplyDeletethank you so much, dilip!
Deletelovely tile
ReplyDeletethanks, fiona :)
DeleteThis tangle will not sit still, it has broken free and is spilling off the tile!
ReplyDeletehahaha! yep! i had to make myself do that, too, cause it sure didn't come natural :)
DeleteThis is great, such wonderful movement and flow!
ReplyDeletethanks, daniele, it just seemed to mesh this time
DeleteWow, it is fun and flirty with the lines that entice the eye to travel in every direction of your tile!
ReplyDeletethanks, leeanne, so much fun!
Deletevery flowry, braking out all rules. I have never used fengle! To complicated in a tile. Very wel done!
ReplyDeletefengle is not always my friend - you should try it again :)
DeleteWonderful work Alice. I am currently playing with Fengle myself.
ReplyDeleteGreat work Alice. At first I wanted to do this tangle with fengle too, but I just couldn't get the right flow. So I sitched to other tangles. But you sure did get the right flow in your Fengle.
ReplyDeleteit's a tough one for sure, keep working at it. it'll come and you'll just all of a sudden 'get' it. :)
DeleteLovely - I love your choice of tangles - all arms and flowy bits reaching out.
